User account

When you are admitted to a course or programme at Jönköping University, you are provided with information on how to register and how to create a user account.

The account is used to log in on campus computers, the wireless network, Canvas (online learning platform), the University Library, Office365 and more.

Never give out your password. If you do this, change your password immediately.

With the user account you get access to cloud storage in OneDrive (1 TB) where you can save your files.

Contract of liability

You are required to accept a contract of liability regarding the use of Jönköping University computers, network and system resources when you activate your account.

For example, bulk e-mail is only allowed to your own study group and to your own programme. It is not allowed to download illegal movies via your personal computer using our network, or to save music/movies on G: that are not related to your studies.

Self service

At the Self service External link, opens in new window. portal, you can log in to:

  • Activate different ways of changing a forgotten or expired password by yourself
  • Change your existing passwords for your user account and eduroam account (wifi)
  • See how long your account is valid
  • Block your JU Card if you lose it
  • Change PIN for your JU Card

E-mail

Jönköping University uses Outlook to handle email. All campus computers have Outlook installed. You can also use Outlook Online from a private computer via portal.office.com.

As a student you are obligated to read your university email.

Connect to university wi-fi

If you have a user account you can connect you private computer or other mobile devices to the the wireless network (eduroam).

Jönköping University is connected to eduroam, which gives students and staff access to the internet at other colleges and universities that are also connected to eduroam.

Follow the instructions for your operating system to connect to our network. Please note that you need to have a separate username and password for your eduroam account. Log into Self service to set the password.

Printing

When printing at the university you can pick up your printout on any printer. Read more about printing on IT Helpdesk.

You can print, copy and scan on the same machine. Swipe your JU Card in front of the printer to log in/access the printer, or log in manually by entering your username and password.

All printers are capable of printing up to A3 format, black and white/color, copy and scan documents directly to your e-mail or home directory.

Computer labs

Computer labs are open 24-7. You need your JU card to access the labs.

Ladok is the student administration system where you can:

  • Register for courses and programmes
  • Register for exam
  • Get a study certificate
  • Get a registration extract
  • Change your address

Canvas

Canvas is Jönköping University’s online learning management system. In Canvas you can access course material, upload assignments and much more.

You can access Canvas by visiting the address canvas.ju.se and using your JU e-mail and password. After logging in you will see the dashboard displaying your courses. Canvas is also available as an application for your mobile device. Search for Canvas Student in Play Store or App Store.

Microsoft Teams is a platform that combines workplace chat, meetings, notes, and attachments. Read more about Teams on the IT Helpdesk web.

Zoom is a tool for meetings online. It can be used for group work, tutoring, video meetings or lectures. Read more about Zoom on the IT Helpdesk web.

JU Mobile

With JU Mobile you can get your course schedule straight to your mobile phone and you can also register for exams, see your results and book study rooms. The app is available for both Android and iOS.

During spring 2023 multi-factor authentication will be activated for all students' accounts. Read more about MFA at the IT Helpdesk web

Free software

As a JU student you have free access to several Microsoft programs for download to your own computer.

Maintenance hours

Every Friday 5 p.m. - 6 p.m. and the third Sunday of the month* at 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. IT Services performs maintenance work on the university's IT infrastructure. Disruptions may occur and files/programs on the network may be unavailable at this time.
