Visit from LUT University

Representatives from Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology (LUT University) in Finland visited Jönköping University (JU) today. The purpose was to discuss existing and future collaborations within EULiST to facilitate and create long-term synergies. Both JU President Måns Svensson and LUT President Juha-Matti Saksa expressed their hopes for a long-term and enriching co-operation.
Today, 18 September, JU was visited by a delegation from LUT University in Finland, consisting of President Juha-Matti Saksa, Strategy Director Janne Hokkanen and Chief Growth Officer Petri Ajo. The aim of the meeting was to explore existing and possible future collaborations within the framework of EULiST, and how we can work together to facilitate and create long-term synergies.
Successful meeting
“There were many productive discussions. Among other things, we talked about a potential joint application to Horizon Europe, for example between Jönköping International Business School and LUT Business School, the development of a formal double-degree programme or a Cotutelle agreement for some PhD students and how we can facilitate different collaborations such as seed funding and other support mechanisms,’ says Lucia Naldi, Vice President for Research at JU, who attended the meeting.
“It was an enriching meeting that lays the foundation for a potentially long-term and fruitful co-operation. We share many common goals and ambitions with LUT University, and I look forward to what we can achieve together within EULiST. Our collaboration strengthens our global network and benefits both research and education,” says Måns Svensson.
Juha-Matti Saksa, President of LUT University, was also positive about the meeting.
“I see many benefits in sharing experiences and working together with JU. We have the same mindset, and by working together across borders and within EULiST, we can create real benefits,” says Juha-Matti Saksa.
LUT University is a technical university in Finland with campuses in the cities of Lappeenranta and Lahti, and is particularly recognized for its strengths in technology, sustainable development and business studies.
