New publication: The growth paradox, sustainable development, and business strategy
MMTC member Mark Edwards has published an article "The growth paradox, sustainable development, and business strategy" in Business Strategy and the Environment.
In the article Mark discusses how economic growth is a two-edged sword, a paradox requiring a new way of working. Whilst wealth and employment are created by growing economies, the harmful impact on vital planetary systems this is having, is unprecedented. These systems are needed for our health and wellbeing, as well as that of the planet, and are the global ecological base on which all economies depend. This paradox requires the reconceptualization of growth and transformative growth strategies to better deal with the global encounter with natural limits. In this article, Mark offers preliminary conceptual tools for resolving this paradox.
